How to see David Blaine in his glass box on the River Thames close to Tower Bridge - open 24 hours per day!

David Blaine FearlessDavid Blaine is suspended from a crane in a translucent box in the centre of London England.  He is on the South Bank of the River Thames, immediately to the west of Tower Bridge and adjacent to the new City Hall.

The Stunt started at: 20.27 GMT Friday 6th September 2003

Blaine is not due to leave until Sunday, October 19 at 20:00 GMT (21:00 BST)

David Blaine's box is immediately opposite the Tower of London.

Due to major traffic chaos caused by David Blaine's box stunt you are strongly advised to take The Tube (buses are getting stuck in the traffic jams around Tower Bridge)

RECOMMENDED ROUTE:

Nearest Tube (Underground Station) is:

Tower Hill Underground Station (walk across Tower Bridge)

  • District & Circle Lines

From Tower Hill station, follow signs towards Tower Gateway DLR / Brick Lane.  Then as for Tower Gateway

Tower Gateway DLR Station (walk across Tower Bridge)

  • Docklands Light Railway - DLR

About 50 m (55 yards) from the station, there is a major road junction, by Tower Gateway DLR,  pedestrian crossings. Cross towards the Tower of London, then continue towards Tower Bridge with the Tower of London on your right.

>> Great views of David Blaine in the glass box - RECOMMENDED! <<<

Cross the river and take the 39 steps down to The Queen's Walk on the south bank.

London Bridge (walk along embankment passing HMS Belfast)

  • British Rail (south east London & Kent suburban rail services)
  • Northern Line (Bank Branch)
  • Jubilee Line

London Bridge: From London Bridge rail and Underground station, this is a 10-minute walk. Leave by the Tooley Street / Duke Street Hill exit. Cross Duke Street Hill, cross Tooley Street and turn left along Tooley Street. Take St Olaf Stairs, an alley to the left of St Olaf House - there are no steps, despite the name. The alley leads to the riverside walk, called The Queen's Walk. Turn right on The Queen's Walk, towards Tower Bridge. Continue past Hay's Galleria, HMS Belfast and the passing City Hall (the round glass building).

Thames River cruisers (check with operators)

Most River Thames cruise boats go under Tower Bridge and will pass by David Blaine suspended in his box.

London Bridge City Pier, on the south bank of the Thames, is the closest pier to City Hall. It is served by Thames Clipper boats, which are wheelchair accessible. The pier is connected to The Queen’s Walk.

By London Transport bus

Buses 47, 381 and RV1 (low-floor) stop by Hay's Galleria on Tooley Street. From here, walk through Hay's Galleria to the riverside walk and turn right, towards Tower Bridge. Continue as above.

Buses 42, 78, 381 and RV1 (low-floor) stop on Tower Bridge Road. From here, take steps down to the riverside walk and turn west - towards London Bridge.

By car, taxi or Dial-a-Ride

Battle Bridge Lane: Battle Bridge Lane is a left turning off Tooley Street, just after Hay's Galleria. It is a dead-end street, ending at The Queen's Walk. Potters Field is about two - three minutes walk from here. Follow the Queen's Walk towards Tower Bridge past the building site and you will see Potters Field just past City Hall.

Tower Bridge Road: From Tower Bridge Road, use the steps down to the riverside walk, known as The Queen's Walk.
